The Weeknd Announces New Album Dawn FM Dropping on Friday

As many of us headed back to work on the first Monday of the year, The Weeknd gave us a new treat to look forward to. Sunday night on January 2nd, the Canadian singer-songwriter posted on his social media, “wake up at dawn tomorrow…”

Keeping his promise, on Monday he teased “new album : dawn FM // january 7th” across his accounts. The announcement was paired with a short, dark video featuring glimpses of the artist in a car crash, then restrained and held captive, ending with The Weeknd as an old man.

The video shares a message that this album is “A new sonic universe from the mind of The Weeknd” and lists his album collaborators: Lil Wyane, Tyler The Creator, frequent collaborator Oneohtrix Point Never, and comedy actor Jim Carrey.

The next day The Weeknd posted the cover art for Dawn FM, where he appears as an aged man with features like gray hair, wrinkles, and a notably worried, sorrowful gaze.
