Ozzy Osbourne Announces First NFT Collection CryptoBatz
Ozzy Osbourne is the latest rockstar to enter the world of NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The Prince of Darkness announced his own NFT collection called CryptoBatz, produced in collaboration with NFT studio Sutter Systems. CryptoBatz is a collection of 9,666 NFTs of unique bats. The concept was inspired by Ozzy’s infamous onstage incident in 1982 where he bit the head off of a bat during a performance in Des Moines, Iowa. The news about the British icon’s upcoming NFT project was first announced by Rolling Stone UK.
The NFT project will also bring a new feature to the marketplace called “MutantBatz”. Each of the bat NFTs will have the ability to bite and mutuate with another NFT from the collector’s digital wallet, creating a new additional NFT for the owner. To mutate, the owner can activate the MutantBatz feature to purchase a bite. CryptoBatz can mutate with other NFT brands, including Bored Ape Yacht Club, SupDucks, Cryptotoadz, and an unrevealed fourth brand.
The Black Sabbath vocalist said in a statement:
I’ve been trying to get in on the NFT action for a while so when I asked Sharon for a Bored Ape for Christmas after several failed attempts of buying my own, and she said no, I decided to create my own.
CryptoBatz is a fucking mental project for NFT collectors and fans. The design pays tribute to one of my most iconic onstage moments and is a chance to acquire a rare piece of art history. I love it!
